Eventing. Horse Training. Rider Coaching

"WITH ENOUGH PATIENCE, DETERMINATION AND GRIT, WE CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING."

Welcome to Christine Armishaw Equestrian. Christine Armishaw is a horse trainer, riding coach and passionate eventing rider, hailing from New Zealand and now based in NSW, Australia. Christine believes in teaching others not just how to ride, but how to read and understand their horse - fundamental to the well-being of the horse and the successful partnership between any combination. Christine is always seeking new knowledge and asking ‘why?’, to learn more and share what she discovers along the way.

"I come to you and teach you on your own horse"

Riding Lessons & Coaching

Christine travels to you and your horse, to coach you in the comfort and security of your own familiar surroundings. That means you can:
  • keep your horse calmer at home
  • avoid having to travel
  • focus on the important building blocks of riding
  • get the most from private one-on-one horse riding lessons

The focus for you and your horse may include one, or a combination of:
  • fundamental coaching of a novice/beginner rider (any age)
  • re-establishing a person returning to riding after injury, or time off (read 'mum getting back into horses again!')
  • teaching you how to train your young or inexperienced horse
  • further advance a horse & rider combination wishing to begin competing

To set you up to be as successful as possible, Christine starts from the core elements that provide the foundation for any successful horse and rider and works up.
In the saddle, Christine will coach you in your areas of interest, including:
  • basic flat work
  • dressage schooling
  • pole work
  • jump training
  • cross country

However there is a lot more to horses than riding, and over the course of your learning time with Christine she will also provide insight to the fundamentals of:
  • ground handling
  • horse management
  • diet/feed regime
  • ideal bitting
  • correct saddle fit
  • general tack/equipment to use, specific to your horse,
  • competition preparation
  • and more!
The name of the game is to help you to go out and achieve what you set out to do. Your own personal goals are the focus of your regular lessons - be it working towards feeling confident enough to ride on your own; cantering out in the open; learning to jump; trying your hand at dressage; or aiming toward competing at your first event. You can feel confident your skills and riding will improve, all while having fun with your horse, in a friendly, relaxed environment.

Meet Christine

Picture
"As a riding coach and instructor, one of my favourite things is seeing the broad smile on the face of one of my riders when they 'hit a high'. Whether it's reaching day-to-day goals while at home training, or achieving bigger, more long-term goals, being there to help them achieve it is always so incredibly rewarding. I get just as much of a buzz from their success as they do!

As a horse trainer and event rider, I enjoy the early stages of training a youngster, helping him to learn, develop and grow into the ultimate athlete the event horse eventually becomes. The trust and bond established and built upon in the early stages is critical in a strong partnership, helping the horse to flourish and perform to his full potential.

Eventing is my passion and I take great pride in my work, both with the horses I am privileged to help educate, and the riders whose lives I am able to positively impact. I am always interested in expanding my field of knowledge to better understand how to train, educate and produce. I am passionate about furthering my own knowledge and enjoy learning new strategies and developing my training techniques to improve rider awareness, horse performance, and communication & harmony between human and equine."
